I mean it's not as if you're 'only' uploading to NG, right? ...Right?
Just in case you're only focusing on NG right now: _Never_ put all your eggs in one basket. Check out where other artists who publish similar works upload their content. Then create accounts in those places as well. That way, even if some of the other places are not to your liking, you will still have alternatives.

however its still dead as usual due to algorithm
newgrounds needs quite a bit of time to get the ball rolling on it, i found that socializing on it, posting comments and positive reviews, on a lot of stuff can get you a good number of followers/people interested in seeing your stuff, you should never force it though, dont try grinding a fanbase on newgrounds because thats what you think you should do, do it if you actually like being on the site, if at any point you dont see a point to it you can just let it go(at least for the time being)
like someothers pointed out post your stuff on other platforms too, its sure to get you more known or to make it easier for people that use these other platforms more to follow you
honestly the idea of gaining a following is cool and all, but i think its more fulfilling to just have fun and learn stuff as you journey through the internet in general, hope you the best with your mindset man o7
